The 2018 UTME is around the corner and here are five things you should know ahead of the exams.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has concluded the 2018 UTME registrations and the next task before them is to conduct a successful examination for the candidates.

Over 1.6 million candidates reportedly registered for the 2018 edition of the exams that will qualify the candidates for this upcoming tests in March.
However, while you are preparing for this exam, your preparations have to also cover everything you need to know about the 2018 UTME.

These are five things you should know about the upcoming exams.

1. The exam date

The 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will start from Friday, March 9 and end on Saturday, March 17.

The exam body has also banned candidates from bringing some items to the CBT centres on their exam days.

2.  Wristwatches.

JAMB says it has discovered that during the conduct of the 2017 UTME, electronic devices including wristwatches and other devices were used to perpetrate examination malpractice.

3. Writing materials

There is no need to go to exam hall with pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners since the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is now computer based.

4. Spectacles

Any candidates going for the 2018 UTME is not expected to wear spectacles as JAMB listed eyeglasses as part of the banned items.
This according to JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede is the reason the exam body install lens detector in all CBT centres.
He said, “the lens detectors will also be made available at all centres to find out the status of all eyeglasses if a candidate or anyone must go in with it''.

5. Mobile phone

Your mobile phone too is not allowed to be taken to the CBT centres. According to JAMB, your phones will be deactivated if you bring it to the exam hall.
