Black Panther’ Nabs Seven 2019 Academy Awards Nominations

'Black Panther' Nabs Six Nominations At The 2019 Oscars
Black Panther is easily one of the biggest pop culture-defining superhero movies of this decade, from having a predominantly black cast to its futuristic depiction of Africa.
Thanks to the 2019 Academy Awards nominations, the “Wakanda Forever” chant is set to return this year as Black Panther just nabbed nominations in seven categories. In addition to the six technical nominations, the movie also earned a ‘Best Picture’ nod, making it the first superhero movie to be nominated in that category. The ‘Best Picture’ award is considered to be the most prestigious and the highest award a movie could receive at the ceremony.

This nomination comes as a big surprise to most considering how other superhero flicks like Logan have been snubbed in the past despite their commercial and critical success. Notwithstanding, Black Panther obviously made the coins, smashed box office records and became a cultural sensation following its release, and these factors probably made the film a contender for the category.
With the ‘Best Picture’ race being competitive this year, hopefully, one of the black-led films in the category would win when the 91st Academy Awards holds on February 2019.
