Stages Of Falling in Love

How then do you know you have fallen in love?

There are stages and I am not talking about Disney and the sweeping off of your feet where you both dance into forever island to leave happily ever after.

The butterfly stage; the move here is the increase in testosterone and estrogen levels. It is a fluttery feeling people equate to love but it really isn’t. I dare say; it is closer to obsessive lust.

The detective stage; here, the flutters in your stomach are still there but it becomes toned down just a little to begin to gather details about him. The primary reason is to know more about this person to back up the feelings you have developed.

Fixing the puzzle stage; you have the facts and you are trying to understand how this puzzle can fit into your personality and life as a whole. Belief and value systems are checked for compatibility as you wonder if the relationship is right for you.

Vulnerability stage; you cannot be vulnerable unless you trust the person to an extent. Here, you are not bothered with impressing the person but letting the person see your true self- weaknesses and all, and knowing whether the person accepts you for who you are.

Comfort stage; here, you become more comfortable with the person and form deep attachments and bond. Basically, you know each other to the bone.

Staying put in the comfort state can become boring, so try to spice things up to visit other stages. Add varieties and plan special experiences so that you still feel those butterflies when you look at your partners.
